Happy Chinese New Year 2012

Happy New Year.

Xīn Nián Kuài Lè! Before I forgot. It’s widely celebrated here in the country because we have a lot of Tsinoys specially in the Binondo area. I miss eating Tikoy and moon cake.

Dragon Dance
Wherever there are Chinese people, there are "dragons" regarded as mascots. For over 2,000 years, the dragon has turned from a symbol of deity, emperor and imperial power into a symbol of the rising Chinese nation. The Dragon Dance, accordingly, has been elevated from asking for God and rain to expressing people's courage, pride and wisdom.

The Dragon Dance has diversified models and forms. The dragon is a totem of the Chinese nation. The farming tribes worship it very much. People think dragons can make clouds and bring them rain. Playing dragon dances in the spring will hopefully bring people favorable weather; playing in dry seasons will bring them rain; playing to different families will drive ghosts out. Therefore, the custom goes on.

My sister and I went to the grocery exactly January 23 and it was such an enjoyable sight to see the dragon dance  inside the  supermarket lol.  I don’t know why my sister is so freakin' fascinated with blinking dragons.

Baguio city is rich with bread shops selling authentic breads not found somewhere else like their trademark bread they call ‘long john.’  There’s this bakery and fast food joint we frequently go to along Mabini called Ad’laine bakeshop . they offer pasta and cakes as well as pancit. They also have coffee by the way. I noticed that a lot of cafeteria here in baguio offers good brewed coffee. Anyways, I read over the net that Mabini is baguio’s version of quiapo. Yeah, I got that feel having grown up in quiapo. Ad’laine offers lots of interesting bread such as snow ball. Cakes here in baguio aren’t so swee. Snowball cost P15 and yes it will make you feel stuffed because it’s a li’l big. I don’t know why t’was called snowball but prob’ly 'cuz it looks like a bunch of snow when you turn in into a ball before you throw it to someone lol

monday morning

i recently bought this slimming juice from 711 last week called myslim. t'was a good way to detox. it's like carb trim but so much better although it's quite pricey. the label says that, you can't drink it on an everyday basis, twice a week will do as it's really meant to detox (as in frequent trips to the toilet). so, drink it only if you're home. i actually realized that, most dietary products are this close in making one bulimic. why? you eat then excrete them after few minutes. the only difference is that anorexic people induce themselves to throw up after eating whilst these dietary products are a lot more natural although the principle is the same. so, i still resort to exercise and healthy eating habits.

my sister and i just suite ourselves watching korean soaps since we don't have cable tv here in our flat. but what the heck we really enjoy heartstrings lol. there's just something about 'k' soaps that's just entertaining.

Happy Year of the Dragon!

I spent my new year with my family and we had pork bar-b-q, pancit and spring rolls. My sister and I bought a chocolate roll cake f and it was sumptuous as usual. It was a quiet new year in our parents house since we’re 45 minutes away from the city so just imagine how we’re so far away from the all the noise. I had dose of coffee morning of the 31st so I did not really felt sleepy until t’was late in the aftie. That was about 6pm that slumberland started calling me and then I dozed off but woke up around 11pm so I was just on time for the countdown.

We watched couple of movies during the afternoon of 31st. my sister and I watched the sorcerer’s apprentice and captain America

welcome 2012!

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, which begins on January 23, 2012 and ends on February 9, 2013. The Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 Animal signs. The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. In ancient China, the celestial Dragon represents an emperor and power. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness. May the celestial Dragon bring great good luck to everyone.

In Sung Dynasty (a Chinese imperial dynasty lasting from AD 960 - 1279) texts, the dragon is described as having the head of an ox, muzzle of a donkey, eyes of a shrimp, horns of a deer, body of a serpent covered with fish scales, and feet of a phoenix. The dragon usually clutches a pearl symbolic of its super-natural powers. Invariably accompanied by thunder and rain, dragons move like lightning and whirlwinds - - all powerful yet totally unpredictable.

Have a prosperous new year ‘ya all!!!
