beautiful disaster

beautiful disaster
by jamie mcguire

it took me a while to finish the book because i was busy again with tons of things such as preparing for my sister and i's birthday (hotel reservations, buying stuff for the trip etc.) so, finally, i finished the darn book with a rock on cover. i never thought t'was a love story.

characters:

  • travis maddox--fell madly in love with abby/pigeon
  • abby abernathy--the virginal love interest of travis
  • america--abby's bestfriend
  • shepley--travis' cousin and america's bf

travis and abby met at eastern university. travis join fights to raise money for himself thus spends them lavishly. when i say 'fights' imagine robert downey jr. in sherlock holmes, that kind. travis and abby made a bet on one of travis' fights, eventually the later won. abby, as a result of losing the bet was left with no choice but live on travis' condo, same room, same bed to abby's dismay. travis & abby's love story was exhausting to read: lots of fighting, travis stalking abby, abby holding back but in the end was not able to fully ignore travis. love is a strong force eh? the two went back together, amend their differences, kissed and made out. happy ending amidst the two's prolonged enforced agony. they got married and abby had a tattoo (not to mention travis was a tattoed bloke himself.)

--the end

i am a fan of suspense thrillers so beautiful disaster isn't really my kind of book but whaddaheck i enjoyed reading it and at one point got engrossed with it for some reason lol. love is an element in every book the readers cannot find not interesting no  matter how cheesy the story is. next read---infinite sky by c.j flood :)
