movie marathon sequel

I love movies and I'd love to share my own take on movies worth watching and the one's that are not. Well, at least i warned you ;)

• The Healing (Horror) •

Manang Elsa - the faith healer
Seth - main character
Jed - Seth's son
Cookie - Jed's stepsister

Seth, took her father (who was paralyzed due to stroke) to Manang Elsa, a faith healer who allegedly perform miraculous healing. The significant part of the story happened prior to Seth and company leaving Manang Elsa's abode. A man then collapses and that's it they never knew what happened next.

The next day, Seth found her father missing so she frantically looked for him until Jed her son told her to see for herself. Seth was surprised when she saw her father talking to neighbors about how well he's feeling after having gone from a faith healer.

Amazed, Seth's neighbors asked if they can go to Manang Elsa one day to find cure for their illnessesas as well which she later on agreed.

Jed, after having witnessed his grandfather's surprising recovery from stroke seeked help from his mother if he could take Cookie, his stepsister to Manang Elsa hoping to find cure for her severe digestive problems affecting her skin and self esteem as well.

Seth, took her neighbors to Manang Elsa but found that the faith healer is ill. Seth's group was acommodated eventually even though Elsa was not feeling well.  Prior to Seth and the group heading home, Jed saw his mom and company. He took Cookie to Elsa that same day. Cookie became very unwell that same night after having gone from Manang Elsa.

Beforehand, during Seth's way back home, her neighbors started feeling better for some weird reasons. Her neighbors celebrated their recovery afterwards until one day Seth saw one of Elsa's patients on the news.  The ex-patient hostaged someone went berserk and committed suicide. Weird as it is Seth and company thought it was just a coincidence.

One day again during Seth's way home, she saw one of her neighbors walking like a zombie in the neighborhood. She called out her name, the neighbor budge but she continued walking as if on a trance. Seth later on found that same fateful day her same neighbor died.

Things got weirder and weirder when her neighbors started dying mysteriously in weird chronology. The same people that Elsa miraculously healed.

Seth and one neighbor, the surviving one, decided to visit Elsa to find answers for what has been going on lately. They found that Elsa died. Elsa's brother also claimed that Elsa broke a rule of some sort after bringing a dead mean to life (the guy who collapsed in the beginning of the movie) because in exchange of the man's life would be the loss of those people with whom Elsa performed healing after. It's like claiming the life of the others as a repayment for his own life as he's supposedly dead.

Seth and son Jed then realized that the presence of a doppleganger serves as a warning that another life is in danger. The two worked hand in hand in order to save Cookie who's life is next in line after all Seth's neighbors died. Seth and Jed triumphed eventually although Seth's life hanged by a thread at one point.

If you haven't seen this flick you should because it won't waste your time unlike the other horror movies i've seen hiding beneath all the screaming and suspense but leave you disappointed in the end and make you wish you just picked up a different movie from the dvd rack.

The Healing is bound to become another classic horror movie. kudos to another brilliant work from the same Director Chito Roño who gave us 'Malikmata' which is my all time fave local horror movie.

What can I say? I enjoyed the movie because it depicts so much of our culture which is kind of diminishing at some point due to the movie making industry's attempt to be hollywoodish. Our belief on faith healers is something rustic yet interesting.

I dare you to watch.

• Seconds Apart (Suspense) •

Twins Seth and Jonah was both born with weird telephatic abilities. They can manipulate people's mental state by making them see horrific things thus lead them to commit suicide. Mysterious series of deaths kept happening which all lead to Seth & Jonah's involvement.

Detective Lampkin started investigating and
was able to come into conclusion that the twins were involved. Lampkin's sanity was put into a test by the twins. Lampkin started having doubts about his sanity.

On the other hand, one of the twins fell in love with a girl from school which made his twin brother jealous. Distrust started creeping between the two boys. The two had a violent fight of their lifetime and they both died from the house fire.

This movie is demented really not for everyone though because it borders between boring and interesting which as usual depends on your taste. I'm personally neutral about it because i like weird movies so I kind of liked the movie somehow cuz it's  not your mediocre flick.

• Apartment 1303 (Horror) •

Janet, moved out of their home because she couldn't get along with her mother. She then rented a flat on the 13th floor because it overlooks the sea from her room. Janet, went ahead and rented the allegedly haunted room despite the warning not to take that same apartment by a next door neighbor because a former tenant  commited suicide there.

Weird things started happening. The former occupant of her apartment started haunting her. Janet then died mysteriously.

Janet's sister took care of all the unsettled things after her sister passed away. Janet's boyfriend was on her sister's side all through out to protect her but  whatever evil presence there killed him as well. Her sister, went looney afterwards (after living in Janet's apartment for a short period of time) stabbed and killed their mother.

I honestly didn't enjoy this one because you have to hook your dvd player to an amplifiers since it's meant for surround sound SO on regular tv and dvd hook up/set up, it's almost on mute geez.

But then, nevertheless, this flick bored me a lot. The dvd sleeve is much more promising than the movie. Don't judge the movie by it's appealing dvd sleeve!

Seriously, it was ok just arm yourself with coffee whilst watching it teehee! Just bluffing...
