Last Friday morning whilst browsing the internet i received an sms from this law firm compelling me to settle my past due balance with Global Destiny, my supposedly disconnected cable I cancelled months ago. it was disconcerting because i knew for sure i spoke with one of Global Destiny Cable's employee and requested my service cancelled April last year.
so what the fudge is that sms about? I've exchanged text messages with this person who claimed was from Abesamis & Perreira Law Office and the person was obviously threatening to sue me and mentioned over sms that i was given letters after letters and that i was contacted multiple times but i never responded. what a big fat lie! first of, i did not receive any notice at all since i disconnected my service with them and hell i was pissed so off. so, i immediately called Global Destiny to clear the issue and they indeed confirmed i have disconnected my service last year and that the only amount i failed to settle was Php750. i told them i cancelled my service with their employee over sms and i did not fax any letter because i was told everything's fine and the April's bill was the last. it was so frustrating. imagine, they did not notify me about anything and then after a year they will threaten to sue me for something i'm not even aware of? It's just absolutely ridiculous.
to resolve the matter i called Global Destiny the second time around and expressed my disgust then compelled their legal whatever to cease sending me messages a.s.a.p (i gave them the mobile phone number of the person who claims he/she's from the mentioned law firm) so they can tell them to quit harassing me as it's not even called for. lo and behold the harassing messages was put to halt immediately. Global Destiny even confirmed that they don't send text messages, they really do it in writing and i may disregard those messages, they even informed me that such harassment happened to one of their customers before, oh wow, now they're bad mouthing their own company i'm so impressed. i stood my ground and reiterated that, i never got anything (in writing) from them regarding my balance. my point is, what if they come across individuals who knew nothing about their rights as consumers, will they just scare them out of their wits with their legal jargons? to make the long story short, i told them of course i will settle my balance which i should have done in the first place if i was notified at all. I'm not a difficult person to deal with and I know my responsibilities as a consumer therefore I want to be treated with a great deal of respect because i never missed a single payment with them.
lesson learned, never agree to anything verbally (over text message or just by mere conversation) make sure to always have everything in writing, a document where you affix your signature to attest you agreed to something because verbal agreements is as good as nothing.

moving on, 'nuff of the bad stuff. i have tonsillitis so i take copious amount of hot tea with a dash of citrus together with an antibiotic. i hate getting sick and Global Destiny made me even more sick.
