I missed work yesterday because I'm sick which is not really that often. I went to the doctor yesterday for a check-up and of course to get a medical certificate for being absent for one day, just one day. the doctor told me my left lung doesn't sound good and i have a gut feeling i may have asthma. i went through Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)* spirometry etc. instead which made me almost out of breath. after the test, all was well though and i went on medication for few days. it wasn't serious though, just a simple case of aggravated colds. I went through tests because i mentioned we have a history of asthma in the family. so there, i sort of just maximized the benefits of having a healthcare provider.
*Spirometry (meaning the measuring of breath) is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), measuring lung function, specifically the measurement of the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. Spirometry is an important tool used for generating pneumotachograph to assessing conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and COPD.
